The Finnish Ski Association's acting executive director Marleena Valtasola confirmed to Yle Sports that the association has determined the amount of personal contributions required from athletes for the upcoming World Cup competitions. In light of the association's difficult financial situation, athletes are now expected to contribute financially, with earlier plans suggesting a maximum fee of 500 euros.

Skiers, including Iivo Niskanen and other competitors, will be required to pay a personal contribution of 300 euros per World Cup weekend, while ski jumpers and Nordic combined athletes will face a lower fee of 200 euros. Valtasola indicated that the association is actively seeking means to reduce the burden of these contributions and is exploring options for additional funding.

In previous instances, cross-country skiers received support for the season's opening events in Ruka when a private company announced it would cover their personal fees. The FIS Nordic World Cup event in Ruka is scheduled to take place from November 29 to December 1, 2024, which will be broadcast by Yle.
