Expert's Proposal: Abolish Nations in the World Cup
As the dominance of Sweden and Norway in cross-country skiing becomes increasingly apparent, expert Hanna Falk has put forth a compelling proposal. She suggests that the current World Cup structure should be revamped to eliminate national teams, similar to the model used in long-distance Cup competitions.
Falk points out that the recent World Championships in Trondheim showcased remarkable performances from these two nations, which went on to win all gold medals and a staggering 78% of the available medals.
"We are far from this idea right now, but I believe that eventually, we will move in that direction," she stated during her analysis.
This call for change reflects a growing sentiment that a more inclusive and competitive environment could benefit the sport as a whole.
