Excitement After Crash – World Championships: Norwegian Climbs on Moser’s Skis and Rants
Originally published in Krone on February 27, 2025
During the quarterfinal of the skating sprint event at the Nordic Ski World Championships in Trondheim, a collision abruptly ended the race for two competitors. According to Norwegian Matz William Jenssen, he made a wide step and ended up climbing onto Benjamin Moser’s skis. Jenssen claimed that Moser’s step could have been avoided, thereby making him responsible for the crash. In contrast, Moser argued that he was leading the race and expressed his frustration, admitting that the outcome was extremely bitter.
The incident not only led to Moser’s elimination from the competition but also highlighted the high stakes and split-second decisions necessary in international cross-country skiing. Despite aspirations for a podium finish, the crash served as a harsh reminder of how quickly race fortunes can change at the world level.
