Edvin Anger scored a podium position in the Tour de Ski after sprinting past Norwegian star Johannes Hösflot Klæbo on the way to the stadium. This was Anger's first podium in a distance race in the World Cup. The 22-year-old was just a couple of seconds away from victory in the pursuit, despite the winner Harald Östberg Amundsen starting 1 minute and 15 seconds ahead of Anger.
