World Cup: Edvin Anger and Kristine Skistad win sprint at Les Rousses
In the World Cup classic sprint events held at Les Rousses, Swedish skier Edvin Anger triumphed among men while Norwegian Kristine Skistad took home victory for the women’s category.
In the men’s final, Edvin Anger won his first World Cup race, defeating a trio of Norwegians: Ansgar Evensen, Erik Valnes, and Even Northug. French skier Lucas Chanavat, who won both his quarter and semifinal heats, finished in sixth place in the final.
Five French competitors advanced from the qualification round, which was topped by American Ben Ogden. Ivan Essonier, Renaud Jay, and Richard Jouve were eliminated in the quarterfinals, while Jules Chappaz fell short in the semifinals.
In the women’s event, Kristine Skistad, who had previously won at Les Rousses two years ago, beat two Swedes, Maja Dahlqvist and Jonna Sundling, in the final. Three Frenchwomen qualified but Melissa Gal, Léna Quintin, and Léonie Besson were knocked out in the quarterfinals.
This victory marks a significant achievement for both Anger and Skistad as they continue to establish themselves in the competitive landscape of Nordic skiing.
