Edvin Anger Achieves New Success After Nail-Biting Finish
Edvin Anger, 22, triumphed again in Bruksvallarna, winning after a dramatic final sprint.
After halfway through the 10-kilometer race, sprint specialist Edvin Anger took the lead in Bruksvallarna. He clinched his second victory of the weekend, finishing three seconds ahead of Truls Gisselman and six seconds ahead of Jens Burman.
– It felt great, Anger told SVT Sport.
Anger expressed satisfaction with his performance, indicating that his body continues to function well. He looks forward to future competitions as he remarked, "It’s fun to ski and I look forward to what’s next."
However, the finish was a nail-biter. Both Gisselman and Burman pursued Anger fiercely as they approached the final 500 meters, being only 0.7 and 1.5 seconds behind, respectively. Yet, neither could close the gap, allowing Anger to exhale in relief as he crossed the finish line.
The victory marked Anger’s second win of the weekend, having also triumphed in Friday's sprint event. He noted that if his body responds similarly in upcoming World Cup conditions, he expects to perform well.
Notably, neither Calle Halfvarsson nor William Poromaa competed due to injury and illness, while Alvar Myhlback finished in sixth place, trailing Anger by 35.5 seconds.
The World Cup begins next weekend in Ruka, Finland.
