From 33rd yesterday to the fourth fastest time today in the pursuit race, Ebba Andersson views New Year’s Day as a fresh start.
– A new year and new possibilities. Yesterday was completely dark for me, and today a bit brighter, she tells SVT Sport.
Ebba was disheartened after finishing 33rd, which dashed her hopes for a top placement in the overall standings of the Tour de Ski.
In today's pursuit, she started from a challenging position, 2:38 behind Astrid Öyre Slind, who started first.
– Not the most favorable position on paper, but I tried to look at the positives, just trying to work my way up and do the best race possible, says Andersson, adding:
– However, it wasn’t exactly fun waiting in the start pen, feeling like it took an eternity before we got to start.
Andersson climbed significantly in positions to finish 18th, with the fourth fastest time of the day. She lost about a minute to the dominant Astrid Öyre Slind and Therese Johaug, who are now first and second in the overall standings, finishing 3:28 behind them.
Overall, Andersson is currently ranked 13th, 3:40 behind the leaders.
– I could start to forget about the overall standings after yesterday's race.
In the clip above, Ebba Andersson talks about what motivates her moving forward in the tour.
