Ebba Andersson's Appeal Rejected

Ebba Andersson was disqualified in the 20 km race at Holmenkollen last Saturday. The Swedish Ski Federation chose to appeal this decision. However, the appeal was not upheld. "We are disappointed," said Lars Öberg, head of cross-country skiing in Sweden.

Andersson appeared to finish third in the race, but post-race, the jury ruled that she had committed a technical fault by skate skiing, which is not allowed in classical races. This was her second yellow card of the season, resulting in her disqualification from the race.

The Swedish team decided to submit an appeal following the disqualification, but it was rejected by the international governing body on Wednesday afternoon.

"We are disappointed that the appeal did not go through and still do not agree with the jury's decision. Regardless of the outcome of the appeal, it was our intention to shed light on the situation surrounding Ebba Andersson's disqualification, which is complex. It is important for athletes to receive clarity and understanding about the jury's reasoning," Öberg explained.

The United States also submitted a protest after the weekend's competitions regarding a written warning received by Jessie Diggins for violating technical rules. This protest was accepted by the appeals committee.
