Ebba Andersson had a big chance at another World Championship medal. However, just when she was about to sprint, the 27-year-old fell, and her chances at the podium slipped away.

"It hurts terribly right now," Andersson told SVT Sport with tears in her eyes.

The medals in the last race of the World Championships, the 50km in Trondheim, were contested between four athletes. But one of them fell in the final hill, cutting short her hopes for a medal.

Despite being crowned with three golds in previous races, Andersson was unable to garner any joy from her achievements at this moment.

"It's tough right now, but I’ll surely be proud later," she added, reflecting on her performance in a challenging race where conditions proved difficult.

The gold medal went to Frida Karlsson, with Heidi Weng and Therese Johaug taking silver and bronze, respectively.
