Ebba Andersson faced off against Therese Johaug again, continuing their epic rivalry. The recent 10 km classical race saw Andersson triumph over Johaug by a narrow margin, reinforcing her status as a top competitor in cross-country skiing. "To end up in a gold fight was beyond my wildest fantasies," said Andersson. Fellow Swedish skier Frida Karlsson also secured a bronze in the event.
The race concluded with a nail-biting finish, as Andersson nervously watched Johaug make a late surge towards the finish line. Despite a close contest, Andersson celebrated her victory with the excitement of both her fans and members of the Norwegian royal family.
Johaug, who has struggled to reclaim her dominance after a long absence from competitive skiing, expressed her disappointment at finishing just 1.3 seconds behind Andersson. "It's very frustrating to be so close, especially with just 1.3 seconds between us. I had every opportunity but fell short in the end," Johaug remarked after the race.
