Didrik Tønseth was experiencing the peak of his fitness when he was hit by mycoplasma, just two months before the World Championship season. The infection has severely impacted his training, leading him to feel very unwell. Tønseth shared that he had a high fever and struggled to get out of bed after returning from a training camp.
Tønseth was previously optimistic about performing in the upcoming ski season, having trained well throughout the summer. Now, he faces a challenging road ahead to reach qualifying standards for the World Championships at home.
Currently, he is back to training but is cautious not to push his body too hard while recovering. He acknowledges that he is far from the level of performance required for the World Championships and is aware of the pressure that lies ahead with qualification races beginning soon. Tønseth remains hopeful despite the setback, with his sights set on proving himself during the Norwegian Championships, which is critical for his selection for the World Championship team.
