William Poromaa had a promising start at the 20-kilometer race in Davos, clocking the fastest time at the 4.1-kilometer mark. However, after a strong initial performance, he realized he could not maintain his pace and withdrew from the race midway through the event.

Poromaa reported to SVT Sport, "In the beginning, everything felt alright. I was skiing at the level I intended, but after a while, my body just couldn’t keep up. I guess I need to rest a bit."

The race was ultimately won by Martin Löwström Nyenget, who finished 13 seconds ahead of Finnish skier Iivo Niskanen. French competitor Hugo Lapalus took the third place.

The best-placed Swede was Truls Gisselman, who finished in 11th place, while Edvin Anger came in 14th.

Anger shared his insights about the challenging conditions at higher altitudes, stating, "It’s tough at the altitude, and I got quite fatigued on the second lap. It's important to stay strong mentally, and on a tough day, it becomes more challenging. Given how I felt yesterday, I took some positives from my performance."

With the World Championship in Trondheim approaching in February, Poromaa expressed a desire to refocus and improve, emphasizing that he has tasks ahead of him to work on his performance.
