Cross-country Skiing: VM Star Pål Golberg Skips Sprint: "On the Final Stretch"
Originally published in SVT Sport on October 21, 2024
Pål Golberg, a star in cross-country skiing, has made the decision to forgo participation in the sprint events and the Tour de Ski for next year's World Championships being held in Trondheim. Having claimed three gold medals and one silver in the last World Championships, Golberg acknowledges that at 34 years old, he is in the final stretch of his career. "If I can stand on the starting line at the World Championships knowing I'm at my best, I'm willing to sacrifice my own judgment," he stated. Throughout his career, Golberg has been among the top sprinters, achieving 17 podium finishes in World Cup events. However, he believes that reducing competition will allow him more time for training this winter.
