Cross-Country Skiing: Therese Johaug Dominates Competitors in World Championship Tracks
Therese Johaug showcased her prowess in a recent test race in Granåsen, where she not only outran her competitors but also expressed concerns over safety conditions prior to the event. With her victory in the challenging 10-kilometer classic course, Johaug demonstrated strong form heading into the World Championships.
In preparation for the 10-kilometer classic event at the upcoming World Championships, Johaug was initially apprehensive. During her warm-up, she had to slow down significantly to avoid colliding with a construction vehicle still operating on the ski tracks. "Sjur Ole, please ensure no trucks are on the course when we practice," she communicated to her coach, highlighting her safety concerns.
Despite the unsettling start, once the situation was clear, Johaug took to the course with determination. She finished first in a time of 30:36, closely followed by Lotta Udnes Weng, who finished 19 seconds behind. The race served as a significant warm-up for what promises to be a competitive World Championship season, particularly as it features some of Johaug's favorite distances.
Johaug aims to excel specifically in the 50-kilometer freestyle event, which she regards as a prime opportunity for securing gold.
