Helen Hoffmann, a 23-year-old cross-country skier from Thuringia, secured her third consecutive gold medal in the 10 km race at the U23 World Championships in Schipario, Italy. The race was held under difficult conditions as continuous snowfall created deep, slow tracks, making the course a tough challenge for all racers.

Hoffmann distanced herself from the field, finishing 25.7 seconds ahead of Australia’s Rosie Fordham and 37.3 seconds ahead of Canada’s Liliane Gagnon, while the remaining competitors finished over a minute behind. The added challenge was that the course had not been freshly prepared following the men’s race, which further accentuated the tough conditions.

Speaking after her victory, Hoffmann expressed her delight at claiming the title for the third time in a row over ten kilometers, noting that the heavy, slow snow suited her racing style. However, there was little time to celebrate as she is set to compete in the mixed relay event the following day, where she will have another opportunity to shine on the international stage.
