Edvin Anger, a 22-year-old cross-country skier, reached the sprint final in the competition held in Cogne, Italy, with hopes of climbing onto the podium. However, he admitted that he began feeling the effects of fatigue as early as the quarterfinals, and by the time the final started, his energy reserves had dwindled significantly.
In the final, Anger struggled to get off to a fast start and was unable to recover, ultimately finishing in last place. Despite his disappointment, he remained cautiously optimistic, stating that finishing fourth would have been acceptable given his condition on the day.
The race saw a dominant performance by the Norwegians, with Erik Valnes taking first place, Ansgar Evensen in second, and Even Northug securing third. Anger’s comments reflect his frustration and determination to improve, as he aims to refine his strategy in future races to prevent fatigue from undermining his performance.
