Calle Halfvarsson Sees Silver Linings Despite Challenging Season
Originally published in SVT Sport on August 19, 2024
Calle Halfvarsson experienced a tough last season, struggling to claim a spot on the podium and only managing to finish in the top five twice during the World Cup events. Despite these difficulties, he is determined to continue his competitive career, setting his sights on participating for three more seasons, ultimately peaking at the home World Championships in Falun in 2027.
Halfvarsson reflects on how a challenging season can often serve as a source of renewed motivation. Currently, he feels less fit compared to the previous summer, yet he chooses to view this in a positive light. He believes that his lack of early-season form may work in his favor; after all, previous years of being in peak shape at this time did not yield the anticipated results. As he prepares for the upcoming season, his primary focus is on the 10 km classic event at the World Championships.
