Criticism of the Federation for Lack of Training Camps, Only Two Skiers Attended – Jasmi Joensuu's Comments
Originally published in YLE on October 21, 2024
The Finnish Ski Federation has arranged very few training camps due to financial difficulties, leading to varied participation among athletes. Despite this, Jasmi Joensuu remains optimistic about the future of centralized national team activities. During a media day in Helsinki, she discussed an unusual situation at a training camp in Trondheim where only she and young successful competitor Hilla Niemelä attended from the women's side.
Joensuu stated, "Every camp has had at least two athletes, but individual decisions are made, and we must focus on the best possible work with those who are present." She emphasized that discussions about compulsory participation for national team members in training camps could be an interesting topic to explore more.
