Calle Halfvarsson's Setback – Abrupt End to Sweden Premiere

Today, Calle Halfvarsson faced a difficult season premiere in Bruksvallarna.

"It's unfortunate, of course," says Halfvarsson, who had to withdraw from the sprint competition.

The 35-year-old was unable to achieve the flying start to the season he had hoped for. During the sprint at the Sweden premiere in Bruksvallarna, Halfvarsson was forced to pull out after qualifying for the semifinal. He has been plagued by back problems recently, as he explains.

"I haven't trained much, mostly just stayed at home doing stretches," he admits.

Although he didn’t compete in the sprint event, he hopes to participate in the distance races over the weekend.

"If my back isn't functioning, it will probably be difficult tomorrow. But we'll see," Halfvarsson notes.

The reason he decided to compete in the sprint event despite his issues was to try and secure a spot on the Swedish team for the World Cup premiere in Ruka.
