Calle Halfvarsson Struggles with Back Pain but Hopes to Return for Tour de Ski

Calle Halfvarsson has been struggling with back pain, but recent medical examinations indicate that he may be able to return for the Tour de Ski. The Swedish cross-country veteran confirmed that a disc in his back is not in optimal condition, causing irritation to the nerve root, but the prognosis for a quick return to competition is good.

Halfvarsson had to drop out of the skiathlon event at the World Cup in Lillehammer after just five kilometers last Sunday due to pain. The veteran skier has since withdrawn from this weekend's events in Davos, Switzerland.

This week, he underwent both MRI and CT scans as he has faced difficulties with his back following the season’s start. The team doctor, Rickard Noberius, mentioned in a press release that the affected disc is causing nerve irritation but with rehabilitation, Calle aims to be ready for competitions soon.

Despite the setback, Halfvarsson remains optimistic about participating in the Tour de Ski, while keeping the goal of being fully prepared for the World Championships in Trondheim as his top priority.

This news comes as a relief to his fans as they look forward to his return to the race tracks in the coming weeks.
