Brutal news for Udnes Weng ahead of World Championships
Tiril Udnes Weng realizes she will not make it to the World Championships in Trondheim later this winter, following a diagnosis of mononucleosis earlier this season.
She expressed her feelings in an interview, stating, "I had hoped to compete in Norwegian Championships to qualify for the World Championships. However, I have been ill for four weeks and I am still not well enough to train. There was no chance of me getting fit for the World Championships anyway."
Udnes Weng shared her disappointment, mentioning that she had purchased an apartment in Trondheim in preparation for the event, and now she is unsure if she will even be in the city during the championships.
"I can hardly think about it. I don't think I will be in Trondheim. It's terrible to miss out on the festive atmosphere, and I want to support my teammates. But I'm not sure about it."
Udnes Weng won the overall World Cup title just last year, showcasing her talents on the international stage. She will be greatly missed at the Championship event.
