Lauri Vuorinen, 30, experienced an unforgettable day at the 2025 FIS World Championships in Trondheim. After securing his first World Championship medal – a bronze in the sprint event – Vuorinen was seen shaking his head in disbelief during the post-race celebrations. He recalled that the full impact of his achievement only hit him while he was in the backstage area, realizing who else was present at the medal ceremony.

In the high-stakes sprint race, Vuorinen joined elite company as Norway’s Johannes Hösflot Kläbo captured gold and Italy’s Federico Pellegrino took silver. Vuorinen expressed his elation with a remark on how good the medal looked as he showcased it on camera.

Grateful for the support he received, Vuorinen thanked his coach, Ville Oksanen, his wife Johanna Matintalo, and his parents, acknowledging all those who had accompanied him on his journey – especially through the extra hard work of recent years. In a particularly memorable moment, he revealed that President Alexander Stubb had called him immediately after he crossed the finish line to offer his congratulations, a gesture Vuorinen described as “really cool” and warm.

With another race on the horizon – likely a paired sprint event – Vuorinen hinted that there would be time for celebration before he returned to the competitive circuit.
