Cross-Country Skiing Competitions Canceled in Nove Mesto
Originally published in SVT Sport on August 21, 2024
The eagerly anticipated cross-country skiing competitions set to take place in Nove Mesto during the upcoming World Cup have unfortunately been canceled. This decision has arisen due to the renowned ski destination, which hosted the biathlon world championships last year, grappling with financial difficulties that have compelled organizers to cancel the planned events.
In their statement, the International Ski Federation (FIS) confirmed that they are actively seeking a solution to reschedule competitions for the same dates that Nove Mesto was meant to host the World Cup.
The World Cup is poised to kick off on November 29 in Ruka, Finland, and the events in Nove Mesto had originally been slated to run from January 31 to February 2 of the upcoming year.
