Ane Appelkvist Stenseth and Hedda Østberg Amundsen fell early in the sprint during the World Cup opening in Ruka. Stenseth lost her balance in a turn and fell, causing a chain reaction that also left Amundsen on the ground. This mishap created further challenges as Swedish star Linn Svahn also struggled, falling out of the track due to the incident, which led to disappointment for three competitive sprinters. Stenseth, who had shown strong performance in the prologue, expressed her frustration about the fall, noting that her skis didn't respond as intended. In the aftermath, only Julie Myhre managed to continue to the semifinals, while Tiril Udnes Weng and Kristin Austgulen Fosnæs were eliminated in their heats. Kristine Stavås Skistad was absent from the event due to a recent surgery.
