Anders Aukland and Eirik Bruland celebrated Christmas in an extraordinary way: they skied up Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain, on Christmas Eve. This unique adventure saw them reaching the summit at nearly 6,000 meters, marking a notable feat in skiing history.

Aukland described the experience as an incredible adventure. He was inspired to embark on this journey after a guide allowed him to bring someone to ski up Kilimanjaro, although skiing on this mountain has not been officially done before.

To prepare, they took a rapid ascent, climbing the mountain in just four days, which heightened their risk of altitude sickness. Their skitrek included skiing into the crater at the summit, which none had accomplished in the past.

This trip was part of Aukland's adventurous career, following his past achievements including a record attempt to ski across Greenland and the longest ski trip of 700 kilometers in 2021, where he also had Bruland as a companion.

Both athletes were exhausted but exhilarated, proudly stating they were the first to ski down into the crater, making for a remarkable Christmas celebration and a memorable addition to their skiing endeavors.
