Alvar Myhlback is considered to be one of Sweden's most promising ski talents. The dual junior world champion from last year faced a challenging day in Lillehammer during the World Cup over 10 km freestyle, finishing in 57th place, 2.24 minutes behind the winner.

Myhlback, who is part of the junior national team, competed alongside elite athletes this weekend.

Despite a decent 19th place finish in a classical sprint earlier this year, Myhlback struggled with an early start number and was quickly falling behind the competition.

"The feeling on the first lap wasn’t great, but it improved a bit later. As has often been the case, I come alive right as I’m about to finish," Myhlback commented.

The race was dominated by Norwegian skiers, led by Martin Löwström Nyenget. William Poromaa was the top Swedish competitor, finishing in 20th place.

Final results were as follows: 1) Martin Löwström Nyenget (Norway) - 22:58.8, 2) Simen Hegstad Krüger (Norway) - +4.1, 3) Harald Östberg Amundsen (Norway) - +7.8.

Further, Myhlback commented on the difficult terrain and expressed hopes for better results in the future.
