Originally published in Krone on March 04, 2025
Teresa Stadlober, the Austrian cross-country skier, narrowly missed out on her first world championships medal, finishing in fourth place amidst snowy conditions in Trondheim. The emotional support from her mother and ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober was visible as she shared in the tension of the race from the sidelines. Roswitha had experienced similar feelings of disappointment as her own career had seen her finish fourth in Olympic events. This latest competition had Teresa leading at the halfway point, famously surpassing top competitor Therese Johaug, building hope for the aspiring medalist. However, as the competition progressed, Teresa admitted to struggling to maintain her pace, culminating in a final result that, while disappointing, nonetheless brought her motivation for future races, especially the upcoming 50 km marathon event.
