The World Cup features the qualification round for the sprint event in Ruka.
Here, Linn Svahn was the fastest of the Swedish women.
However, a local skater impressed the most.

Jonna Sundling, Johanna Hagström, Linn Svahn, Maja Dahlqvist, Emma Ribom, and Frida Karlsson
These are the Swedish names on the starting list for the Ruka sprint.

All of them progressed from the prologue.
The best among them in qualifying was Linn Svahn, who finished third, trailing behind Finnish skater Jasmi Joensuu, who had the fastest time by 2.66 seconds.

Just before the event, Joensuu experienced dramatic preparation, colliding with an American wax technician.
"It was an accident; I’m not blaming anyone. But it shouldn’t happen," she said to Viaplay.

A Hint for the Swedish Skaters
She also made a remark to the Swedish competitors.

"I love this and really want to beat them today."

The second place was taken by another Finnish athlete, Amanda Saari.

"I’ve never heard of the one who was second, so that was a bit of a surprise," Maja Dahlqvist told SVT Sport.

Other Swedish Placements:

  1. Johanna Hagström (+3.54)
  2. Jonna Sundling (+4.18)
  3. Maja Dahlqvist (+5.19)
  4. Emma Ribom (+8.23)
  5. Frida Karlsson (+8.99)
