German Biathlete Johannes Kühn Discusses Future Plans as He Approaches Retirement

Johannes Kühn has hinted that the upcoming World Cup season may be his second to last. This news comes in light of Benedikt Doll's recent retirement, placing Kühn in a vital role within the German biathlon team, especially during this transitional phase.

In a recent interview, Kühn shared his aspirations for the future: "Olympia 2026 is a big goal for me. If I stay healthy and qualify internally, I want to experience it." He expressed a particular excitement about the 2026 Olympics, as they will take place close to the breathtaking Alps. While he is eager to compete, Kühn mentioned that after the Olympics, he may consider continuing for just one more season, though he plans to make that decision later.

Kühn highlighted the team’s collaborative effort to adapt following Doll’s departure, stating, "We are not looking to replace Benni one-to-one; we handle this collectively. I see myself in a central role because of my experience." Active on the World Cup circuit since 2012, Kühn has claimed one victory and has reached the podium 19 times, underscoring his significant contribution to the team’s success.
