Sebastian Samuelsson's Strategy for Speedier Shooting in Upcoming Season
Originally published in SVT Sport on August 16, 2023
Sebastian Samuelsson has set his sights on enhancing his shooting speed for the upcoming season. Recognizing a need for improvement, he aims to reduce his average shooting times by three seconds in both prone and standing positions. To achieve this goal, Samuelsson has made significant modifications to his rifle—most notably the stock—and is honing his ability to execute a quick shooting routine while maintaining an aggressive stance on the range.
The upcoming Swedish Championships (SM) in roller ski biathlon, taking place in Sollefteå from Friday to Sunday, serves as an ideal platform for Samuelsson to test his revised strategy. He aspires to shoot six seconds faster during the sprint event, underscoring a competitive trend towards increasingly rapid shooting times. Despite facing a challenging field of competitors, Samuelsson is determined to reclaim his competitive edge.
In an unfortunate turn of events, Linn Persson, who recently underwent shoulder surgery, will not be competing in the SM. Instead, she is focusing on individual training in hopes of joining a high-altitude training camp after the championships.
The schedule for the SM in roller ski biathlon in Sollefteå is detailed below: - Friday, August 18: Roller ski race - Women 7.5 km and Men 10 km (non-championship distance) - Saturday, August 19: Distance - Women 12.5 km and Men 15 km - Sunday, August 20: Sprint - Women 7.5 km and Men 10 km.
