Tarjei Bø (36) learned about his brother's retirement over the Christmas holidays. As for his own future, he has chosen to keep his decision under wraps.

On Saturday, news broke that Johannes Thingnes Bø would retire after this season, despite the upcoming Olympics in Italy just over a year away. The 31-year-old explained that it was time to prioritize family life. Tarjei Bø found out about his brother's choice toward the end of the holiday period.

• I talked a bit with him over Christmas, but the conclusion came at the end, he told TV 2 and continued:

• He said that he had started to think in this direction, so I could sense it, but that the conclusion would come so quickly—I would have thought he'd dwell on it throughout the winter.

The future of big brother Bø has long been uncertain. He will not reveal what he has decided.

• I have made up my mind. I know what I am going to do, but I don’t think it’s something to talk about today.

The Bø brothers are currently busy with the World Cup in Ruhpolding, Germany.
