Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold has decided to skip several upcoming World Cup events due to recent heart rhythm disturbances. According to a statement from the Norwegian Biathlon Federation, she will not participate in the races taking place in Kontiolahti and Hochfilzen.

Tandrevold experienced episodes of rapid heart rate during competitions, which compelled her to stop during a sprint race in Kontiolahti. Although her medical team confirmed she could physically start, they have advised her to focus on recovery.

With the next competitions being a 10-kilometer sprint and a 12.5-kilometer pursuit in Hochfilzen, Tandrevold stated that she needs time to recuperate after two incidents of heart disturbances during races.

"I feel okay, but it was disappointing to have a bad experience again. It’s quite frustrating to feel like it's out of my control. I experience an irregular heartbeat that causes my heart to pulse too quickly, and I need to find my rhythm again," she explained post-race.

It was noted that she has faced similar issues in her career previously.

The women’s elite team doctor, Aasne Fenne Hoksrud, emphasized the importance of rest and medical follow-up.

This situation marks a significant moment for Tandrevold as she navigates both her health concerns and competitive responsibilities in biathlon.

Similar circumstances have been noted in other Nordic athletes, underscoring the importance of health in high-performance sports.
