Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold met the expectations of being the favorite, winning the biathlon sprint on Saturday at Sjusjøen. Tandrevold faced a challenging start with one missed shot in the prone position, landing her in 14th place after the first shooting round. However, she bounced back effectively, hitting all her targets during the standing shooting phase.
By the finish line, Tandrevold was 12.1 seconds ahead of Emilie Kalkenberg, who claimed second place. Kalkenberg might have won if not for a critical miss on her final shot.
"The first lap felt difficult as usual, but it was exciting to get started," said Tandrevold to NRK.
Despite the early miss, Tandrevold was surprised by her performance, which she described as mainly focused on refining the details.
Gro Njølstad Randby finished third, missing one target and finishing 28.6 seconds behind the winner. Veteran Anastasia Kuzmina came in fourth, finishing 44.0 seconds behind Tandrevold.
