Tandrevold undergoes successful heart procedure: "Incredibly grateful"

Ingrid Tandrevold has undergone a successful heart procedure, confirmed by the Norwegian Biathlon Federation. The procedure, done on Wednesday, has allowed her to start light training again, and she expressed, "I have received excellent support, and I am grateful to my family, my support team, the healthcare system, and everyone who has stood by me during this process. I felt I was in the safest hands and I am incredibly thankful for the knowledge and care I've received throughout the journey."

Tandrevold has previously experienced disturbances in her heart rhythm, including two episodes during competitions in Kontiolahti earlier this year, leading her to take a break. She stated, "I might have been able to compete in Hochfilzen and Le Grand Bornand without noticing anything, because except for Kontiolahti, this hasn't happened since the Olympics in 2022. But when I had the chance to undergo the operation, I chose to take it."

The biathlon federation noted that she has been treated for AVNRT (atrioventricular nodal reentry tachycardia), a condition that causes episodes of an abnormally high heart rate due to an extra electrical pathway in the heart. Tandrevold is uncertain when she will be back in competition, saying, "For now, I just need to build my training up gradually. I believe I can be back in the World Cup quite quickly in the new year, but it’s too early to say if I’ll make it to Oberhof."
