The Swedish men's biathlon team experienced another disappointing outing in the mass start competition held in Kontiolax, Finland. Despite showing exceptional speed during the race, Sebastian Samuelsson and Martin Ponsiluoma struggled significantly on the shooting range, leading to a lackluster performance.
Samuelsson was the fastest on the track but ultimately finished in 10th place due to several missed shots, stating, "It's frustrating. I need to perform better in shooting before the next competition." Ponsiluoma had an even tougher day, finishing last amongst the 30 competitors. He expressed his disappointment and recognized the struggle, saying, "It was a disappointing race. Being in the back is not where I want to be."
French biathlete Eric Perrot won the event, with compatriot Quentin Fillon Maillet in second place, and Norwegian Sturla Holm Lægreid taking third. The Swedish shooting coach, Johan Hagström, emphasized the need for improvement, highlighting the team's missed shots as a significant factor in their performance.
