Surprise: Ella Halvarsson gets a chance in the single mixed relay

Ella Halvarsson has been given the opportunity to compete in the single mixed relay alongside Sebastian Samuelsson, following Hanna Öberg's decision to rest after recovering from an illness. This opportunity marks Halvarsson's debut in a relay at the World Cup level.

Halvarsson recently achieved an impressive third-place finish in the sprint competition at the Swedish premiere in Idre and now steps into this new role for the competition scheduled in Kontiolax, Finland. She expressed her surprise over the news, saying, "I was lying in my bed when I received the message. It feels good and exciting to get this chance; it’s an opportunity I have to make the most of."

Samuelsson notes that while Halvarsson should approach the task with humility, it presents a fun challenge for them both. They have yet to discuss much about the competition, but he aims to provide her with assurance as they prepare to give their best.

"I think it’s great to have the chance to compete together. Ella has experience from the IBU Cup relays, which will certainly help as we take this step together," Samuelsson remarked.

The complete line-up for the mixed relay has also been announced, including Anna Magnusson, Elvira Öberg, Jesper Nelin, and Martin Ponsiluoma for the event later in the day.
