At the Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide, the Norwegian team dominated the podium as Endre Strømsheim claimed gold in the individual race. In a contest that turned into a head-to-head duel, Strømsheim edged out his compatriots Sturla Holm Lægreid and the renowned Johannes Thingnes Bø to secure his first individual world championship gold.
Strømsheim described the race as a perfect run, emphasizing that his efficient shooting allowed him to conserve energy. With a flawless series in the final shooting stage, he launched into a powerful sprint that left his rivals trailing. Meanwhile, both Bø brothers experienced issues during the first shooting, and while Vebjørn Sørum posted a perfect series, a chasing group formed including French Émilien Jacquelin, Swedish Martin Ponsiluoma, and Sebastian Samuelsson after the second shooting.
Despite a spirited comeback attempt by Thingnes Bø, Strømsheim’s decisive burst in the closing moments of the race ensured his victory, while Lægreid managed to hold on for the silver medal. This performance marks a significant milestone in Norwegian biathlon at the international level.
