Biathlon expert Björn Ferry welcomes the national team's increased focus on shooting.
"Now they are putting more emphasis on shooting, so I expect to see some effect from this," he says.

Last season was a weaker performance for the Swedish team compared to the previous year, primarily due to poor shooting.
"It's clear that this is the weakness; in terms of skiing, Sweden stands strong, especially with top names like the Öberg sisters, Ponsiluoma, and Samuelsson. But to compete with the best Norwegians and French, we must hit more targets," Ferry adds.

Increased Priority on Shooting This Year

As a measure, the national team management is now prioritizing shooting training more. This means more time with the guns and more dry-fire sessions, steps that Ferry appreciates.
"It's important that the leaders take this seriously and show that it's important now, and hopefully, they've got all the athletes to prioritize this as well.

"It’s reasonable to expect that if someone really gets this right, they could improve their shooting percentage by five percent over the entire season."

What would it mean if our best athletes can improve a few percent this winter?
"If one of these top athletes (the Öberg sisters, Ponsiluoma, Samuelsson) can increase their shooting percentage by five percent, they will have an excellent season. However, I see it as unlikely that everyone will achieve this improvement," Ferry concludes.
