Biathlon: Sebastian Samuelsson’s Training Trick – He Watches Himself

Biathlete Sebastian Samuelsson has a special way of preparing for the big championships – a routine he proudly repeats for himself during his training sessions at home in Östersund.

“I often watch old races when I train,” he tells SVT Sport, explaining how reviewing previous performances helps him hone his technique and mental strength. His method reportedly contributes to his consistent performance in critical moments.

Samuelsson’s fearless approach in decisive situations has been a constant since his breakthrough at the 2018 Olympic Games. Most recently, during the World Championship relay, while his Norwegian rival Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen experienced palpable tension on his final leg, Samuelsson delivered an optimally calm and shining performance. Although he currently sits sixth in the world cup standings—a position that has brought him previous gold medals—he remains driven by the desire to constantly win more.

“I’d love to win a gold and be really satisfied, but it never happens. I always want to win one more,” he says, underlining his relentless pursuit of excellence in the sport of biathlon.
