Justus Strelow Sets His Sights on Success

At just 27 years old, Justus Strelow is hitting his stride as a prominent figure in the German biathlon team representing SG Stahl Schmiedeberg. Transitioning to biathlon in 2013, he has quickly established himself with noteworthy triumphs in mixed and relay events. Now, he is keenly focused on achieving one elusive goal: his first individual win.

Future Aspirations

In an interview with the International Biathlon Union (IBU), Strelow shared his thoughts on victory. "Every time you win, whether with Vanessa Voigt in a mixed event or in a relay, it feels incredible because you get to celebrate with friends and teammates. The camaraderie makes it special. Achieving an individual victory is a significant goal for me, but I’m uncertain when that will come," he remarked.

Strelow's calm demeanor can be attributed to his supportive family environment. He emphasizes the importance of a well-rounded personal life, stating, "My personal life is in great balance, which allows me to concentrate fully on my sport. I kicked off this season strong, and my primary aim is to maintain this focus and level of performance, something I’ve managed to sustain."

The Shooting Sensation

What distinguishes Strelow from his peers is his exceptional shooting skill. Last season, he achieved an impressive 94% hit rate, securing his position as the best shooter in the biathlon circuit. "I’ve cultivated a stable shooting position that lets me quickly and accurately hit my targets. My precision is consistently high, and I’m thrilled to have discovered the perfect method for my success, particularly in prone shooting," he explained.

Interestingly, Strelow's shooting practice includes training under conditions of elevated heart rate and fatigue. He believes that he can only achieve true focus and precision by pushing himself to perform under these challenging circumstances.
