Swedish athletes had little to counter in the 10-kilometer pursuit event.

Elvira Öberg made a significant leap in the standings after a strong finish, securing sixth place, well behind Germany's Franziska Preuss who emerged victorious.

– It was a good competition, Öberg stated to SVT.

The conditions weren’t optimal for the Swedish biathlon women following the sprint competition on Friday.

Prior to the pursuit race in Le Grand Bornand, Anna Magnusson was the top Swedish contender starting in tenth place. Magnusson, who has fond memories of Le Grand Bornand after winning a sprint event a few years prior, started strong by shooting clean in the prone position and moved up onto the podium.

However, subsequent misses caused her to lose touch with the leaders and she ultimately finished in tenth place.

Better fortunes awaited Elvira Öberg, who began the race in 32nd position. Öberg surged upward with fast skiing, becoming the best Swedish competitor in sixth place despite two misses.

– It was a good competition, and I was glad to get redemption from Friday. I know what I can do, so it was important to stay focused; I’m satisfied, Öberg commented.

The winner was Franziska Preuss of Germany, who led nearly the entire race. Julia Simon of France finished second, and Vanessa Voigt, also from Germany, took third.

On Sunday, a mass start is scheduled for both women and men, a race that Elvira Öberg is looking forward to.

– It’s going to be a battle considering the weather; it’s going to be very tough, but I like it.
