Tarjei Bø (36) delivered a remarkable performance in the biathlon sprint competition in Anterselva, Italy, on Friday, positioning himself for his 44th career World Cup victory. He finished with a time 0.4 seconds ahead of teammate Sturla Holm Lægreid.
Bø shot perfectly in both prone and standing, exiting the final shooting stage with a 0.6-second lead over Lægreid. The two teammates were neck and neck throughout the race, but Lægreid ultimately finished with just a narrow margin separating them.
Johannes Thingnes Bø, competing for the overall title, faced challenges with two missed shots and finished in seventh place, 35.7 seconds behind his brother.
The Anterselva course is set to be used for next year’s Winter Olympics.
This weekend, the men's relay will take place, alongside a pursuit event for the women, concluding with both the women’s relay and the men’s pursuit on Sunday. The races in Anterselva are the last competitions before the World Championships in Lenzerheide starting February 15.
