The Swedish women’s biathlon relay team claimed bronze at the World Championships in Lenzerheide. The race proved to be an emotional rollercoaster, especially for Hanna Öberg, who, after covering a long and crucial leg of the relay, was moved to tears by the medal win.
Anna Magnusson, who started the race and exchanged in third place, expressed that this medal holds a special meaning after some difficulties, while Ella Halvarsson, who took over next, lamented the challenges during the baton exchange that had cost the team time.
Hanna Öberg later powered Sweden into third place and passed the relay to her sister, Elvira Öberg, who faced a tough first shooting round that necessitated a penalty loop. Despite these setbacks, the strong final leg led by Öberg ultimately secured the bronze medal, marking Sweden’s third medal in this year’s Biathlon World Championships. Later in the event, expert Björn Ferry praised Hanna Öberg for her outstanding performance, calling her “championship Hanna” for stepping up when it mattered most.
