There were dramatic scenes involving Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold during Saturday's sprint.

The 28-year-old had been cleared by the medical team but was uncertain about how her body would react following previous heart issues earlier in the week.

After hitting five targets on her first prone shoot, a TV 2 camera caught her standing completely off the course trying to regulate her breathing. She stood still for about 30 seconds before continuing.

– What we saw in the footage of Tandrevold was concerning. It felt like she should have been somewhere else rather than competing at the moment, said Ole Kristian Stoltenberg in TV 2’s broadcast.

NRK's shooting expert Ola Lunde echoed similar sentiments, stating,
– It’s painful to watch these images.

After her first shooting, Tandrevold trailed by 15 seconds, but shortly after she had to stop.

EXPLAINED AFTER THE FINISH

After finishing, Tandrevold explained what was happening to her, saying, - It's just that I get a rhythm disturbance in my heart. It’s like a skip in a record, it gets stuck and then beats very hard. It has issues with keeping rhythm, and I have to try to get it back to normal.

She mentioned it's been a long time since she experienced similar issues.

– Was it responsible for you to start today?

– I have close monitoring, so I’m not worried about my health, but naturally, I am concerned about the rest of the season. I can’t compete in this way. I shoot nine out of ten hits, and if I want to compete for the podium, I can't afford to stop for 45 seconds, she said to TV 2.

HALVARSSON SHINING

Several French and Swedish girls were among the favorites leading up to the sprint in Kontiolahti.

Ella Halvarsson shot flawlessly and brutally hit five targets on her first shooting, taking the lead as she exited the standing position.

Behind her on the course was Lou Jeanmonnot, a hot pick after winning the previous event earlier in the week. After a flawless shoot, the Frenchgirl recorded the fastest time, 0.9 seconds ahead of Halvarsson.

CZECH WINNER

In the finish, it was the Czech competitor Marketa Davidova who put pressure on her competitors after two flawless shootings, leading by half a minute over Austrian Lisa Therese Hauser.

None of the competitors managed to respond, with Swedish Elvira Öberg coming in closest, finishing 8.8 seconds behind and the Finns celebrated a third-place finish for Suvi Minkkinen.

Karoline Knotten also delivered flawless shooting, finishing fifth.

- A very solid race. There’s some pace missing, that’s the assessment from Lunde.

In the end, Tandrevold finished in 22nd place, which means she managed to get through the race quite well despite the struggles.

WIDESPREAD REACTIONS

However, many struggled to come to terms with it:

– This is a coaching and leadership responsibility, but if it were me, I would have stopped, stated Ole Einar Bjørndalen in TV 2’s broadcast during the event.

- It was terrible to watch. Truly dreadful, actually, said Tiril Eckhoff.

Today’s winner, Davidova from the Czech Republic, was also clearly shaken upon finishing, saying, - It’s crazy what is happening with Ingrid, she noted.
