Martin Uldal (23) claimed his first World Cup victory in biathlon during a fiercely competitive sprint event at Le Grand-Bornand, causing a stir among spectators and competitors alike. Uldal shot expertly, hitting 10 out of 10 targets and finishing ahead of legendary Norwegian biathlete Johannes Thingnes Bø.

Despite the rain-soaked conditions, Uldal's performance stood out, as he completed the race and immediately felt the intense exertion, leading him to vomit after crossing the finish line. "My stomach was twisting completely. It happens to me sometimes. I felt it right away when I finished," he told NRK.

Overwhelmed by the moment, Uldal expressed his astonishment at winning. "It was really raw. There’s nothing else to say - it was just wonderful. I usually talk a lot, but right now, I'm not very talkative," he smiled, reflecting on his achievement.

His victory not only marks a milestone in his young career but also places him at the forefront of the sport, with fellow athletes acknowledging his potential and skills. Vebjørn Sørum, one of his teammates, praised Uldal’s impressive shooting and overall performance, stating, "He has been impressive and this victory is well-deserved."

In the context of the competition, Thingnes Bø, although a celebrated champion, fell short this time, finishing 1.4 seconds behind Uldal. This win has sparked excitement and rivalry, particularly among Swedish competitor Sebastian Samuelsson who voiced his frustrations about the ongoing dominance of Norwegian athletes in the sport.
