Kirkeeide Shines Again – New Career Best

Maren Hjelmeset Kirkeeide competed in the recent chase start event in Annecy, starting from the 11th position. The 21-year-old demonstrated remarkable shooting skills, achieving a total of 19 hits. This ultimately led her to finish in 5th place, marking her best ever result in the World Cup, surpassing her previous personal best of 11th place from the sprint.

Franziska Preuss emerged victorious, finishing ahead of locals Julia Simon and Vanessa Voigt, who claimed second and third places, respectively. Although Kirkeeide finished 54.1 seconds behind Preuss, she was only ten seconds away from claiming the third spot.

Unfortunately, the other competitors from Norway struggled in this event. Ida Lien faced difficulties with four missed shots in the standing shooting portion, concluding in 26th place, while Emilie Kalkenberg had five misses, finishing in 42nd place. Karoline Knotten did not participate in the chase start after placing 55th in the sprint event.
