Maren Hjelmeset Kirkeeide achieved an exceptional performance on the anchor leg of the women's VM relay, leading the Norwegian team to a silver medal in Lenzerheide. Starting the leg in fifth place, over a minute behind the French team, Kirkeeide navigated through her competitors with skill and proved invaluable by finishing strong.
Kirkeeide's leg was marked by a flawless shooting performance, and despite missing one target in the final standing shoot, she maintained her position without jeopardizing the team's medal chances. She crossed the finish line just over a minute after the gold medalists from France, with Sweden securing bronze.
Following the race, Kirkeeide expressed her joy to NRK, highlighting the pressure and excitement of competing at such a high level. Other teammates like Karoline Knotten, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, and Ragnhild Femsteinevik made significant contributions throughout the relay.
The Norwegian team only faced a few pitfalls, particularly during Tandrevold's leg, where she was the only shooter to enter the penalty loop, yet the collective effort ensured they still claimed a medal at the World Championships.
