The Swedish national team in cross-country skiing went through a dark period in the 1990s, particularly in men’s skiing. One of the explanations for why athletes like Niklas Jonsson lagged behind their competitors was found to be blood doping, which was exposed during the World Championships in Lahti in 2001.
In a documentary from Sveriges Radio, Jonsson shares how the doping amongst Finnish athletes could have led to the end of his career.
