At the Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide, Johannes Thingnes Bö achieved a historic milestone. With two flawless shooting rounds, he secured his 21st world title – a record that now puts him ahead of fellow countryman Ole Einar Björndalen. Despite the German team’s disappointing performance in the sprint – with athlete Philipp Nawrath finishing 18th after early issues during the standing shooting – Bö’s display under pressure was a clear statement.

US athlete Campbell Wright, who surprised many with his all-in performance, earned the silver medal, finishing approximately 28 seconds behind Bö. France’s Quentin Fillon Maillet, after a penalty round that cost him valuable time, claimed the bronze, ending 37 seconds behind the leader.

In his emotional post-race interview, a visibly moved Bö expressed his gratitude and delight at writing the final chapter of his world championship career with such a historic win, calling it one of his greatest victories. Meanwhile, a relaxed Ole Einar Björndalen acknowledged Bö’s exceptional talent, remarking that it would be a long time before anyone could surpass him.

The German camp, however, was left frustrated. Officials from the Deutscher Skiverband (DSV) admitted that the performance was not up to international standards and pledged to analyze the issues in order to approach the rest of the championships in a much improved form.
