Tandrevold had to interrupt her race in Kontiolahti due to issues caused by heart rhythm disturbances. The 28-year-old is returning from the World Cup in Kontiolahti to undergo thorough examinations.

This announcement came from the Norwegian federation before the mass start race on Sunday. The four-time world champion will definitely miss the World Cup in Hochfilzen next week.

"We are in contact with a cardiologist to discuss the next steps," said Aasne Fenne Hoksrud, doctor of the Norwegian women's biathlon team. She needs "rest and recovery after episodes of rapid heart rate."

Previously, alarming images of Tandrevold surfaced. During the women's sprint in Finland, she suffered another collapse, landing in 32nd place.

Like in the individual race last Wednesday, where she dropped from first to 17th place, Tandrevold was plagued by heart problems again.

"I feel good, but I struggle with heart rhythm issues. This means I get a rapid pulse and have to stop," the Norwegian explained to SVT Sport.

TV images show Tandrevold stopping during the race, bending forward with both hands over her chest. She then clutches her throat, appearing as though she might choke. After a while, she resumes racing.

"I was scared that the same thing would happen again," Tandrevold stated before her departure from Kontiolahti to TV2. "It’s disappointing to have another bad experience. I was a little nervous and worried that I might end up with the same situation as in the individual race. It’s frustrating when you realize that you cannot control it." Her heart then pulses "very fast, and I have to find my rhythm again."

Tandrevold had previously faced heart issues in the winter of 2021/22, which cost her participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Last season, she won the Sprint World Cup, and throughout her career, she has achieved a total of 24 World Cup victories, with 20 of them in the relay.
